Because I love to work in 3-D media as much as I love painting or sketching, I decided to to take Georgia O’Keeffe’s series of enlarged flower paintings and convert it into 3-D works. I used very think Styrofoam sheets to create the delicate petals of the flowers so I could ensure that they were flexible but still sturdy. I created larger then life size flowers in all different colours, using a mix of both bright and duller colour palettes to give homage to O’Keeffe’s use of colour.
